Behind the name..

Thanks to a weblog about Ancient History, I became aware of a site providing the etymology of various first names: Behind the Name, with a special page of Jewish names. I have wondered what my own name might mean, which is imported to Norway from the US, but I didn't find it on the lists. Any suggestions? :-)
I didn't find Philo either among the Jewish names, but Philon is given as an ancient Greek form. How come the English version is Philo, not Philon? Plato, not Platon?
