SBL Seminar Papers to Go Online

The Society of Biblical Literature now announces that their annual SBL Seminar papers will go online from this year on. This is not an unexpected development. Due to the Internet and the easy ways of publishing and/or transmitting papers via e-mail and webpages, the SBL Seminar Papers book has been rather unconvenient. The edition of last year was also disappointingly small, comprising only 226 pages compared to the earlier versions of ca 700 pages,- but at the same price.
The announcement made by the SBL is: An Internet version of SBL Seminar Papers is scheduled for release on September 1, 2004. The new version, which replaces the paperback edition, will provide convenient, timely access to papers intended to be read prior to the Annual Meeting. The decision, made early in April by the Research and Publications Committee, recognizes a new opportunity for scholarly exchange before and during the Annual Meeting. Instructions for preparing and uploading papers will be sent to program unit chairs during May.
